Before the invention of the clock, sundials were important time pieces and every town was sure to have at least one. Sundials read apparent time and in present day mean time is more important for schedule keeping. Likewise most individuals are more concerned with the aesthetics of a custom sundial nowadays rather than with how to read a sundial; which would require taking into account the latitude, longitude, the current season and daylight savings time as well as knowing how to apply the equation of time. With all that said, we make every attempt to produce functioning sundials, but we are truly providing garden ornaments and many of our models are produced from old patterns which limit us in our level of accuracy.
